Hoping that some of you photographer type people, [livejournal.com profile] joedecker, [livejournal.com profile] johno,
and [livejournal.com profile] klwalton sorta looking at you, I am about to make the jump (yes finally)
into the DSLR world.

I have had the point and shoot type digital camera for "goofing around" but any of the
"good stuff" photos that I have been shooting have been on my trusty Nikon with actual
film.

So what would you suggest for a new to the DSLR world, but not really a newbie photographer.

Couple of things that I think are important:

I tend to shoot things in motion (ok trains, lots of trains)
I do some night/low light work (more trains but usually they are just sitting there)
Portrait photos are at the bottom of the list as is "nature shots"

Would like to keep it below 750 dollars if possible.

I am not "wedded" to a brand, my Nikon has given me at least 12 years worth of
trusty service though.
